Vegan Health is a conference where leading experts discuss the health benefits of a vegan diet. Emphasize is placed on a whole food plant based diet, that is food from plants where nothing is removed from the plant and nothing added. Speakers are:
Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn
The nutritional reversal of cardiovascular disease: Fact or fiction?
Dr. Esselstyn is a former army surgeon in Vietnam and he was awarded a gold medal at the Olympic Games in 1956 for rowing. He trained as a surgeon at Cleveland Clinic and at St. George’s Hospital in London. He has been associated with the Cleveland Clinic since 1968, he has served as President of Staff and as a member of the Board of Governors. He has published over 150 scientific publications. He is the author of the book Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease.
Brenda Davis, RD
Becoming and staying vegan in excellent health
Brenda is a registered dietitian. A leader in her field and an internationally acclaimed speaker. Brenda is co-author of nine award-winning, best-selling books, such as Becoming Vegan: Comprehensive Edition and Becoming Vegan: Express Edition.
Dr. Shireen Kassam
The Role of Nutrition in Cancer Prevention
Shireen is a consultant hematologist and honorary senior lecturer at King’s College Hospital, London with a specialist interest in the treatment of patients with lymphoma (cancer of the lymphatic system). She is also passionate about promoting plant-based nutrition for the prevention and reversal of chronic diseases and for maintaining optimal health after treatment for cancer.
Speakers also include Ann Esselstyn who will share her energetic talk the HOW and the WOW of a plant based diet. Elin Skuladottir shares her story of transitioning to veganism during a chemotherapy in her talk What Can I do? Beggi Olafs is an Icelandic soccer player and a psychology major, he shares his story of the athlete who never intended to stop eating meat.
Vegan Health is hosted by Gudrun Soley Gestsdottir, media personality and author of the vegan cookbook Grænkerakrásir.
